To corroborate yesterday’s post on the Heather watch, an article
from the October edition of Watch Pro has featured a version of my favourite over-sized Fossil
ladies watch, this time on a nude
leather strap. The article notes the trend for large dial and skinny straps
combinations, highlighting a few brands who do this really well.

Michael Kors of course has a look in along with George Jensen,
Olivia Burton and my favourite, Vivienne Westwood. As mentioned in the article
(oh look, that’s ME quoted!), paring back the width of the strap leaves more room to focus on the
details of the watch face and can provide a more balanced aesthetic. It’s interesting
to see that all of the watches featured in the article take a minimalist approach
to dial design, the size of the case really speaking for itself:

This style of watch has partially grown in popularity from
the growing trend for
‘stacking,’ where a watch with a narrow or wrap-around strap sits in the middle
of a stack of matching bracelets and bangles. A quick look at fashion watches
on Pintrest or Instagram shows the popularity of ‘stacking’ and the diversity
this allows. Again, Fossil does this particularly well as does Mr. Kors:
Stacking is a great way of adding a personal style touch to
your wrist and all you have to do is raid your jewellery box. My wrists are
bare today except for my white and rose ceramic so I’m suffering from major
wrist envy.
